What makes a character unforgettable? Is it the adventures they go on or is it the person they become along the way?
Join Dragons that Read for a lively exploration of books featuring characters who grow, change, and discover something new about themselves. Inspired by beloved stories like Howl’s Moving Castle, we’ll look at characters who begin a story one way and emerge from their adventures with new perspective, some well earned wisdom, and never again the same.
Come ready to talk about characters who overcome fears, challenge their assumptions, discover unexpected strengths, and learn what truly matters to them. Bring a favorite book featuring memorable character development, and be prepared to share what makes that character’s journey special.
Recommended theme: Books with characters who experience meaningful growth, change, or self-discovery.
We will generally spend 45 minutes in a structured format led by the program organizers and specialists before we take a short break. We will then have 45 minutes to enjoy an open social conversation centering on the topic of the day.
